During March, installation of the pre-cast concrete panels to the school has continued to progress well, helping to protect the inside of the building from bad weather. Progress to the tower is continuing with the lift core now built up to level 19, and the slabs following close behind at level 15. Installation of the drainage within the basement areas has also commenced.

During April, we will complete the final slab on the Nile Street block, whilst the tower’s lift core and slabs continue to be built. We will also start installing the pre-cast concrete cladding panels on the Nile Street block. Window installation to the new school classrooms will also start.

Community Engagement

As part of the ongoing review process by the Considerate Constructor Scheme we had our 3rd visit from their assessor. The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a non-profit-making, independent organisation founded in 1997 by the construction industry to improve its image. The main areas of concern fall into three categories: the general public, the workforce and the environment. We are pleased to announce that we have an improved score for the second consecutive time scoring 41 out of 50!

A group of young people from the Southwark Skills Centre (SSC) visited the site as part of their pre-employment programme. The main aim of the SSC is to increase employment and training opportunities in the construction sector by using their center as a complete service for on and off site training that guarantees a high-quality learner experience. The young people had an extensive site tour of the site accompanied by the site team and then had the opportunity of a Q&A session with the site team and the Project Director.
