During February, the school and tower concrete cladding works have commenced and are progressing well, along with construction of the concrete structure to the tower and the Nile Street block. Basement works are continuing, with construction of the internal blockwork walls nearing completion, whilst the final sections of large heating and cooling plant have been delivered to site and moved into position.
Setting out and building of the internal walls that form the new classrooms and student spaces within the school has commenced, in addition to the internal walls that form the residential demises within the tower.
As part of McLaren Construction’s ongoing commitment to supporting young people get into employment we will be accommodating a group of young people from the Southwark Skills Centre as part of their pre-employment programme. The visit will enable the candidates to walk a live construction site and speak to the operations team to find out more about a career in construction.
We are additionally hosting a week long work experience placement for a student from Westminster City College.
Some of our fitter staff members are taking part in the London Monuments Half Marathon this month to raise money for MIND and for their own personal achievement.
