Works during February 2017
During February, our demolition contractor has left site and our ground works contractor has been working hard to prepare the site ready for piling to commence in March. Pile probing has been completed to ensure there is no obstructions where the new foundation piles will be installed. We have removed a large amount of the site’s existing ground and replaced it with a recycled material to provide a firm, level surface for the piling plant to work from. Construction of a guide wall for the basement wall piles has also began. Installation of cabins for our new site offices and operative welfare has been completed within the north west corner of the site, allowing us to vacate the existing school buildings that we had occupied since the start of the project.
March will see the arrival of two of our piling rigs and an attendant crawler crane. The piling rigs will commence working on the north of the site and work clockwise around the basement perimeter. Demolition of the remaining two school buildings will be completed, enabling the remainder of our east vehicle access road to be constructed.
Planned works for March
- Basement wall piling commences
- Demolition of remaining school buildings
- Completion of the site’s east vehicle access road
Due to a large plant delivery that is subject to special traffic movement, the site will extend its opening hours between the following times and dates:
- Friday 3rd March 05.00 – 08.00
- Monday 6th March 05.00 – 08.00
- Tuesday 7th March 05.00 – 08.00
We will endeavour to use the best practicable measures to minimise disruption and inconvenience during the course of our works. However, should you have any queries about the project, please do not hesitate to contact us.
